It’s a question for the ages! What hurts more? Like it’s a competition…
The bottom line is that pain hurts and everyone’s experience is different. There is no known scientific measurement of pain other that what an individual reports. This really explains part of the problem in diagnosing and treating pain. It is awfully hard to identify the cause and treat something that is invisible and only you can feel.
Heck, sometimes there is not even a single identifiable physical cause of pain. Yet it remains quite real and powerful to the person feeling its effects! Our goal at the Global Pain Initiative is to address these problems and, with your help, change how pain is perceived and treated.
We thought this was a great (and fun) way to spread the word about what pain is and how it is perceived.
